Video Installation Evaluation

On Thursday 23rd May 2013, My partner and I showcased the teaser for our video installation on the second floor of college. We asked them to watch the 30 second teaser and told them that the full Installation would be available to watch the following day. We counted the amount of people that had turned up for the teaser and that was 35 people. The following day we counted all the people that had returned to watch our full installation and the people they had brought along to experience it! It was a success as we had 58 people watch our final video installation on Friday 24th May 2013. People were genuinely interested in watching our final video and not only enjoyed the teaser but came back to watch the full video and have the whole experience. We also gave out the Questionnaires to our audience for some feedback on our video.

100% of our audience enjoyed watching the video and would watch it again. The majority of our viewers said that the video made them feel 'relaxed, feel like they were in a dream and engaged'. The most popular section of our installation that the majority of people enjoyed was the constant change in visuals. The quick cuts and the quirky shots used. Most of our audience also agreed that they thought the installation was a success and the timing and music fit perfectly in with the final footage my partner and I had put together. In this project, I enjoyed the filming process the best as we got to travel a lot and experiment with different things we came across and work with different lighting and objects in different locations. As we traveled, we kept coming up with better ideas to include in our installation.

Our audience said that if they could change one thing about my project to make it better, they would have liked maybe a quick view of a small clip in 3D so that they could automatically adjust to watching something in 3D as it takes a little time getting used to. If I could do this project again, I think this is what I would do instead of just showing the project straight away. I could maybe have a funny clip to keep them engaged or a scary clip to get the whole 3D experience up and running ready to view our installation.

I feel that my partner and I worked well together both in the pre-production, editing process and actually installing our video. Our time management was scheduled well and we were very organised with what we had to get done and deadline with going to locations and getting editing done. Overall, I am very happy with my video installation and think that it was a success.
