Magazine show Pre Prod and Evaluation
As a class, we were assessed to create a Magazine show, however I was not present on the day so I will be evaluating the run through's we performed before the filming of our final Magazine show and I will write a conclusion the final product.
The location of our video insert will be at Somerset House, where London Fashion Week will be taking place. There's a specific area in which people from around the UK or even abroad, come to show of their unique styles and the exclusive clothes they are wearing. This area also has a lot of press as well as journalists trying to grab individuals' looks. This will make it easy for us to film as the atmosphere will be busy and we are confident that we will find everything we want to record.
The style of our video will be very quick and catching so the editing must be very cut. We are planning to include maybe around 2 or 3 interviews and the rest of the recording will be video's of the atmosphere as well as the different outfits we come across on the day. As these are playing, we plan to play music in the background as a non diegetic effect. The plan of the final video is to attend the LFW event on search for our top 5 outfits of the day.
The choice of music has yet been undecided but we plan on using something with an upbeat tempo to create a perfect combo of the fashion walk. However, we can not yet make a final decision on this as we need to assure the music choice goes well with the footage.
We will include an intro at the beginning of the video to give our viewers an idea of what we have coming up for them within the insert as well as introducing ourselves. We don't think an outro will be necessary as our video is pretty much basic and straight forward. We will possibly end our video with either credits or our logo which will read "CWC TV".
In terms of scripts for what it is we will be questioning the people we choose as one of our top 5, we decided we would ask questions on the go and live. As we felt it would look and feel too scripted. The main thing was to make sure we got information on what it was these people were wearing and where they purchased the items from.
Our target audience will be students at our college so this ranges from the ages of 16-24. Our language and style of video will be suitable for this specific demographic and the way we will try and connect with our audience is by choosing our top 5 outfits which we think they would be interested in. Having asked some questions and done some research, this specific demographic say they are always interested in fashion that is unique but simple. Others argue that they prefer something bright and quite out there.
The equipment we will use for the construction of our video will be the Canon 600D, A mic and possible a tripod/ a steady round tripod. For now, I don't think any other necessary equipment will be needed/used for the video.
EVALUATION
The things I enjoyed about the outcome of the video is that we met most of the targets and followed the planning. We were able to assure the final edit was cut quick, making it very catchy. We stuck to the choice of program which was trying to find our top 5 outfits, We also used music that went in perfect beat with the footage. We were able to also follow the time limit which was 2 minutes long as well as able to produce a different yet effective video.
Having watched the final video, there are some things I noticed that I did not enjoy seeing. Some of these were by not having a script, I was repeating sentences and words throughout the interviews. Another thing I noticed was the background noise that came somewhere around 38seconds of the video. One last thing was some of the shots used within the video. There were many things I could also improve when making this video. I should have thought of a plan b by taking spare batteries as when we were recording, the camera was continuously turning off and didn't pick up all of the sound when doing interviews which is why we had to do some silent interviews and put up in words what it was they were wearing. Another thing I would consider changing was checking back the footage before moving on to our next choice as some of the footage was out of focus.
CONCLUSION
Overall, I am satisfied with my final video as there was good structure whilst filming meaning we were organized and our time management was well kept. We also went out knowing what it was we were looking for which made it easier having planned it before hand than going out and wanting to achieve something without planning it. In future, I will assure I check the footage and come more prepared for if we have any technical difficulties.
Finally, here is the final video of our London Fashion Week insert.. Enjoy!

Personal Statement
I want to take this course as I have been passionate about journalism for as long as I can remember. I strive to achieve a job in the future in the field of media doing either presenting or fashion journalism. I strive to be the best there is in every aspect of the work I come across whether that be in front or behind the camera.
Having chosen this course, I know there is a lot of hard work involved. I have an understanding that this course revolves around training within the area's of TV, radio, newspaper, magazine and also online journalism which are the field's I am keen to study around for my time at university. I also understand that there will be a lot of practical work involvement too which I am pleased to read about as this will give me the chance either as an individual or as part of a group to show you the work I am capable of producing.I think you should take me onto this course because I am extremely enthusiastic and strive for nothing but success. I am always eager to learn more and progress my skills and work ethic as I have the chance to study a course in something that I am most passionate about giving you nothing but positive outcome in my work and the atmosphere I bring with me as a person. There are many successful people whom I look up to however not in the field in what I wish to pursue, but individual's who have inspired me by making their dream's come true from nothing but hard work. For example; Producer Redone, Athlete Jessica Ennis and Activist Martin Luther King. I also inspire myself. I have achieved some amazing thing's through my life and made such excellent progression and when I compare where I came from, to where I am now it is so inspirational. It remind's me that I can achieve anything I want to if I work hard and have my head in the right state of mind. I take these inspiring people in with me and think about how I have progressed as a person, with me everywhere I go. It help's me achieve the best I can within the work I produce, fulfilling a successful career in the area of my passion and helps push to construct nothing but the best to inspire other's too.
I have read on the website that you look for individual's whom have a great creative writing ability along with a good presentation-like style which are some of my best qualities. I also understand that student's must be aware of world affairs which interests me in many way's as there are many opinions and thought's that I like to express and share with other's in different matters. I love discussions and hearing other people's thought's or opinion's as it is always good to feed your mind with new understanding's of different views that people may have towards what you may think of a certain subject.I know that the previous graduates have achieved such a great experience whilst studying at your university as you were able to provide them with great new opportunities such as being a part of the 'Bournemouth Rock' and being given great facilities to work with to assure they are able to produce work at their best abilities. I know that the teaching methods and assessments in your university are of high standard and I feel as though I am up for that challenge. I want to share my creativity and idea's and be able to gain understanding from your teaching's also. I also understand that your assessments cover different topic's which I can relate to as I have worked in many different roles within the different area's which cover media as a whole.
I decided to join the BTEC L3 TV & Film course just after I had achieved my Distinction* grade for the BTEC L2 Creative Media course. I decided that I wanted to challenge myself by exploring a new side of the media area to not only help my knowledge but influence my work and see what I was capable of. TV & Film are two key area's I wanted to focus on as I wanted to assure my skills were polished and that I was more familiar with them as I would have to work around TV in my near future. The parts I enjoyed in this course was when I was able to work in groups each time, having a different job role proving to myself how well I can work as a Director, Producer, set designer, camera operator or a presenter. The things I did best in my project's was the directing. I had to direct a Film Noir project and I was able to work pretty well as a director. I am able to give clear instructions and lead by example. I assure every person in the group is involved equally and that they're ability to work hard shines in the final product. I would say this links in a way to my degree choice because I know there will be a lot of working in group's as well as working alone. I know how to work well independently as well as assuring everyone deliver's great work as a whole. I always listen to people's thoughts and idea's and love sharing my opinion's too producing a creative vibe as well as a positive energy within everybody who I work around. I took course knowledge and understanding, learning to be independent and great opportunities from my school experience. This is when I decided on university. I wanted more knowledge, to learn even more independence both lifestyle and whilst studying and figured I would be offered bigger opportunities within a journalism course by finishing my studies at university.
Being a part of a team or job keeps me keen to continue working hard. I have had 8 year's experience in dance starting off with ballet from a very young age trying out different styles such as contemporary, belly dance, street and hip hop. I also draw in any spare time I have. I express my feeling's through my art as it brings me peace and trigger's the creative side of my mind. Drawing and designing for me, is very therapeutic. I also like to do a few workshops when I have the chance. For example, I done a workshop with the London College of Fashion where I got the opportunity to design an outfit themed about prints in the Galapagos islands and was able to show them off in a catwalk as well as getting to flaunt them in a professional photo shoot. Another workshop I did was at the BBC where I was first taught how to use a green screen. We had to go out in groups, shoot some footage and play around with the green screen, showcasing all our work in the end. Not only did I enjoy the workshop, but my team also won the best video! I have taken a few acting classes in the Anna Scher theater school, to help build my confidence around people and in front of a camera. I have had many positions of responsibility before, such as being an ambassador where I would help the college if there were any open days, events or other activities. I am also a class president so any complaint's or new ideas for the college were given to me and I would then have to pitch these thought's to the head of class president's in our monthly meetings. This required me having the skills of being easy to approach, being reliable and respecting people's thought's and opinion's. I was given the responsibility of writing a page for my sixth form's newspaper reviewing a trip we took to a studio, working backstage shooting a Christmas advert for 'The Game' store. I have developed and shown many different skills and qualities during my time in college. This course has helped me develop my skills as a presenter by giving me confidence for example, we have worked in a studio producing a show called 'The Buzz' (our college's show) and I have been able to catch a better grasp of what it is like to work in a studio keeping in time with the program, taking directions from the director, designing a big set and I was able to also remember scripts better.
I have experienced many duties and responsibilities whilst doing some part time work out of college. I have worked for a year and a half at a private hospital in Chelsea bridge as both a catering assistant eventually progressing into the role of a private secretary of 3 consultant's. Along with these jobs came major responsibilities such as problem solving issue's alone, booking operations and meeting's for the patient's or consultant's and being able to greatly multitask the work of 3 different people. I have also received many different training sessions whilst working. For example, I undertook a health and safety training course before working as a catering assistant as well as being taught the responsibilities and the job role. I have also been 2 days training before I took the job of a private medical secretariat. As well as being trained before becoming a fundraiser for the AAP charity nation-wide. The skills I have developed from work are my abilities to work independently resolving issues in the best way possible, challenging myself and being a more confident and bubbly individual. This will help me with my course as I will come across many challenges during the course but will know how to overcome these, I will also need the skills of working in a group and independently which I have successfully gained through previous work.
I am part of a production group called 'One Take Films' which was a company registered by just a group of us studying the same subject. We discovered talent's within each individual, put them together and formed a business. Within the group I am the presenter, as well as dealing with the money and sometimes helping out in shoots producing. We mainly work with artist's, comedian's, Actor's and fashion designers. I go out to events, networking and sometimes even presenting some acts. We have shot many things from series, music videos, sketches up to documentaries and freestyles. We are focusing now on building ourselves a website which I will be completely responsible for running and updating. I have done some voluntary work for Red Bull studios mainly as a runner for a showcase they were holding and helped within the offices when they were running a few workshops for upcoming business' such as Live magazine and SBTV. I also got the chance of working as a runner for the MOBOs award in 2012 where I met some of the artist's and were in charge of assuring they were on stage when they needed to be. I play many different sports in my spare time such as Tennis, Volleyball and Rollerskating. I am a big fan of feeding my mind so I always enjoy reading contemporary literature or books on our past history. I am also very up to date with fashion and look through many magazines such as Vogue, Elle & GQ.
Understanding that this Journalism course require's knowledge of current affairs etc, I feel as though I have a faster insight to what this course is all about as I also run my own separate fashion blog which is updated weekly, where I talk about news, fashion, events, music and many other thing's. This not only gives me an advantage but makes me more passionate to learn more about what it is I love to do. I am registered with the company 'StarNow' offering many opportunities of work and experiences, which has helped me greatly with my communication skills and confidence in front of the camera. I have done many photo shoots, fashion and advertising modelling, won the new face of district models, presented for a few showcases and even been privileged enough to be on TV! These have been essential as I have been familiarized with all aspects of TV and Media as a whole. I feel I am right for this course as my potential speak's for itself by being able to show you the work I can produce by just generating an interest around the course type. However if I am lucky enough to study a degree in this course, not only would I be more qualified and learn in depth about this area, but it will be a chance to share with you my creative mind and a chance to work with individuals like myself sharing idea's, creating the best experiment. I want to do this course as it has a lot to offer and I would like the opportunity to experience this journey so I can perform nothing but great work giving the University back exactly what I hope it will give me.. New ideas, A great experience and more knowledge.
I would like to pursue a career as a presenter not only nation-wide but world-wide covering live shows, fashion, interview's with celebrities, news and maybe even my own program. I am also very passionate about fashion so becoming a fashion blogger/journalist would be ideal. From a very young age I have been passionate about a stable career. Growing up, people would focus on normal teenage things and all could ever think about was fulfilling a great career. My drive and ambition speaks for itself. I am so determined to succeed and strive for nothing but great knowledge and power as an individual. I greatly aspire to do nothing but inspire.
My Insert
PLANNING
My group and I have decided we would like to base our insert on fashion. With an opportunity like London Fashion Week running, we saw it as an advantage to film and attend the event.
The location of our video insert will be at Somerset House, where London Fashion Week will be taking place.
