Research on RND and the Audiences.
Red Nose Day is an extremely popular charity organisation. This means that their audiences by far, are the biggest. By having such a capacious audience, it should be able to offer a Live Show which can be responsive to all demographics.
With this being said, they initially do attempt to attract all ages from children to pensioners by presenting a wide range of different things for example; a common theme in the Red Nose Day Live Shows is that the host of the hit children’s TV show ‘Blue Peter’ is the one advertising the cause, which helps the children reach out to their parents to make a donation. On the show, they also target the older generation by involving some of the most popular shows and program's on British television to support the cause; in addition, to target teens Red Nose Day also reaches out to celebrities which influences the younger teenage generation to make a donation
Whom will my target audience be and why?
My final chosen demographic for my Live Show, will be people from the ages of 16+ mainly because my biggest task in the Live Show will be preparing the Inserts and for my insert I have decided I want to make a comedic Music Video. I wanted to do this because I strongly believe that the younger generation are less likely to make a donation, however if I am able to reach out to them myself they may feel that they can relate better and by doing my music video, I hope that this will make our foundation seem more ‘Modern’.
I didn’t feel the need to make an insert that could relate to any other age range or specific social group, as doing some research on Red Nose Day, the majority of donations that do come in, tend to be from an older age. Therefore, I decided to focus on how my group and I could be tactful and aim for those whom don’t tend to put in a donation for Red Nose Day and hope for success on this. Although this age group is my main focus, I will still focus on being able to reach out to all types of audiences so I will hold meetings with my team and assure that all inserts being put into the final show can relate to different demographics.
